Black History Month – Guion Stewart Bluford, Jr.

In honor of Black History Month, part of our initiatives will be to recap on influential, Philadelphia natives, who have impacted our history.

Guion Stewart Bluford, Jr. is a retired U.S Air Force officer and fighter pilot and former NASA astronaut. Bluford was the first African American astronaut, who participated in four Space Shuttle flights (over 688 hours in space) in his career.

We celebrate the achievements of Guion Stewart Bluford Jr., along with other influential African Americans during Black History Month.
